Bullfrog
Miner, April 15,
1905
Bob Black, who killed his squaw and two bucks at Ash Meadows
recently, has not yet been arrested. He is said to be in hiding in
the country somewhere, but the Indians are afraid of him.

“ROBBED OF $900.”
The
restaurant and saloon at Ash Meadows was robbed of over $900 by a
highwayman last week Friday evening.
Mr. Hollenberg had gone to
Las Vegas on business, leaving his sister in charge. Several
teamsters camped at Ash Meadows that night and had gone to bed when a
stranger entered and asked for some beer and tobacco, offering a
fifty dollar bill in payment. The little girl who waited upon him
called her mother to get the change. A box containing silver was
brought out, but the fellow asked for gold. The lady started to get
the gold out of another box, and turning around found the stranger
close behind her. He struck her on the head, knocking her senseless
and grabbed the two boxes of money. The little girl was pushed aside
, and with a box in each hand he went out under the tent, mounted a
white horse standing close by and rode off.
The teamsters were
aroused and tried to follow the highwayman but without success. The
girl describes him as a tall man with light hair, smooth face and
stoop shoulders.
Mr. Hollenberg learned of his loss Sunday when on
his way home by stage.
