Death and Near Misses by Natural Causes, Accidents and Human Hand

compiled from newspaper research
by David A. Wright

The Great Basin has more than its share of legends and myths regarding the demise of humans in its open spaces and mining camps. Some are true, others fabricated, many exaggerated. During the wild boom periods of the Great Basin, men and women defied law and order, getting themselves into trouble and into the slammer.

This series of pages contain what my research over the years has extracted regarding crimes and arrests, death and hazardous experiences by naturals causes, and accidents. Some of these incidents will come directly from newspaper quotations, others summarized if I didn't note the entire article or take the time to type it out at the time I was doing research. An occasional entry here is taken from other notes applicable to the topic of this page. There are occasional guest documentaries.

These pages will be updated as I run across new information. To aid those who regularly check this page for updates, all new entries will be indicated by a symbol indicating that fact for ease of finding new items.
